Academic Student Success Coach (Term Part-Time)

ABOUT THE TEAM
RRC Polytech’s Winkler Campus is in the Pembina Valley region of south-central Manitoba and offers a variety of full-time diploma and certificate programs in business, health care and education, as well as a variety of part-time courses and workshops. Our offerings provide opportunities for personal and professional development for students at various stages in their lives and careers.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Academic Student Success Coach works directly with students in both one-on-one and group settings to provide personalized support that promotes academic success throughout every stage of the student journey at RRC Polytech's Winkler Campus—from early intervention within their program to employability preparation.
The Academic Student Success Coach connects students with appropriate academic resources, including tutoring and other support services, while providing guidance in areas such as time management, study strategies, goal setting, and overall academic success. This role is proactive and intervention-focused, helping students identify areas for improvement and develop individualized success plans. The Coach provides ongoing encouragement, accountability, and support as students strengthen the academic, organizational, and life skills necessary to achieve their educational goals.
In addition to supporting individual students, the Academic Student Success Coach is responsible for planning and coordinating monthly student engagement activities and events that enhance the overall student experience and foster a sense of community on campus.
This is a part-time position, budgeted at 14 hours per week during the academic year.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Certificate in Education or Guidance Counselling. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Experience facilitating individual and group sessions in academic skills, including: self-management, attitude, motivation, time management, concentration, study aids/strategies and test strategies
- Experience in Academic Coaching
- Ability to assess student learning needs and make appropriate referrals
- Familiarity with educational resources available to students from vulnerable populations and for learning disabilities, adult literacy, and numeracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Exceptional organization and time management skills; ability to work under pressure, with tight timelines, and respond to multiple demands
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

- Salary Range for this position: $31.79 - $44.83 hourly
- Generous Paid Vacation: full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year. Information on casual and part-time vacation accrual is outlined in the Collective Agreement or the Terms and Conditions for Excluded Employees as applicable
- December Break: employees receive time off with pay during the period between Boxing Day and New Year's Day
