Health Promoter - Active Living, Mental Health
Health Services, Chronic Disease & Injury Prevention
Status: (2) Regular Full Time
Hiring Range: $81,977 - $92,224 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits)
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm *May require evening and weekend availability based on operational needs

Active Living TeamOur Active Living Team drives efforts to promote physical activity, healthy sleep, and reduced sedentary behaviour across Peel. We develop innovative programs and policies that support active living and improve health outcomes for residents of all ages, working collaboratively with community partners to ensure equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive programs.
Mental Health Promotion TeamOur Mental Health Promotion Team drives efforts to promote mental well-being and resilience across Peel. We develop innovative programs and policies to support mental health for residents of all ages, working collaboratively with community partners to ensure equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive programs and services.
What you will do in this role:
- Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of health programs that enhance and promote positive mental health and active living, sleep and reduce sedentary behaviour.
- Conduct community needs and situational assessments to identify priorities and inform strategies
- Use evidence-informed decision-making, research methods, and critical appraisal to guide program and policy development
- Develop tailored, clear, engaging written and visual communications such as social media content, reports, web pages, and presentations
- Collaborate with internal teams, community partners, and government organizations to advance health initiatives
- Embed principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in all health promotion activities
- Apply health promotion theory, population health, social determinants of health, epidemiology, and relevant legislation
- Mobilize and empower community-led efforts to improve mental health and active living.
- Develop and evaluate program planning and knowledge translation materials to support health promotion goals.
What the role requires:
- A university degree in a health-related field
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in health promotion, program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation
- Solid knowledge of public health sciences including population health, social determinants of health, epidemiology, and the Ontario Public Health Standards
- Understanding of health promotion frameworks and theories
- Experience conducting situational assessments and scoping reviews
- Background knowledge and understanding of research methods, policy implementation, analysis, and critical appraisal including awareness of evidence informed decision making
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills, including analysis of large data sets and data interpretation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong planning, facilitation, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong partnership building and project management skills
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in team settings
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviours, proactively managing bias
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Power Apps, Sharepoint, Teams), with knowledge of social media and communication tools

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time. Please note that this position may require travel throughout the Region of Peel (Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon) to various community sites based on operational need.
It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario.
