The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Internal Communications, you will serve as a trusted advisor to Peel’s executive team, providing strategic counsel and hands-on support for all aspects of executive communications. From speeches and social branding to crisis response and stakeholder engagement, you’ll help shape the voice of leadership and build strong connections with internal and external audiences. This is a role for a seasoned communicator who thrives on strategy, storytelling, and influence. Someone who understands the power of words to inspire confidence and drive impact.
What You’ll Do:
Executive Communication Support
- Develop and execute tailored communication plans for senior leaders.
- Draft and refine speeches, presentations, internal memos, and external correspondence.
- Manage executive communication calendars and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Prepare executives for media interviews, speaking engagements, and public appearances.
- Provide real-time communication support during critical events.
Social Branding & Digital Presence
- Design and implement social media strategies to enhance executive visibility.
- Manage and curate executive social media profiles aligned with brand guidelines.
- Create engaging content for blogs, articles, videos, and social updates.
- Monitor trends and analytics to optimize executive brand-building efforts.
Reputation Management & Crisis Communications
- Monitor media coverage and public sentiment to identify reputational risks.
- Develop proactive strategies to protect and enhance executive reputation.
- Provide crisis communication support and maintain crisis protocols.
Internal Communications & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build internal communication strategies to strengthen executive visibility.
- Manage executive messaging channels and support executive-led initiatives.
- Foster relationships with key internal stakeholders for alignment and collaboration.
What You Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field; Master’s preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in executive communications, public relations, or related fields.
- Proven ability to support senior leaders and manage complex communication needs.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital strategies.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in municipal government.
- Certifications in communications or related fields.
- Expertise in crisis communication and reputation management.
- Experience with video production and editing.

In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.
It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.
