The Editorial and Digital Copywriter Specialist shapes and communicates the Prevention and Safety brand narrative with editorial-quality content aligned to program standards. The role blends strategic messaging and creative storytelling to promote first aid and safety education, strengthen public trust, and support media efforts in partnership with corporate communications. Working cross-functionally, this role ensures content is accurate, accessible, and aligned with program priorities across web, email, social, thought leadership, and other public-facing channels. In this role you will: Strategic communications and content Create compelling content for marketing campaigns, landing pages, blogs, and newsletters, as well as educational short-video scripts designed for public engagement.< Produce assets that support key initiatives, including testimonials, campaign ads, affiliate program materials, Rescuer Award stories, and tradeshow key messaging Define clear campaign strategies with story-driven messaging tailored for email, web, and social. Provide dedicated writing support to digital marketing and communications functions. Ensure tone and accessibility by becoming an SME in programming by partnering with learning solutions. Optimize web content for on-page SEO and GEO to align with search intent and surface in AI overviews, in collaboration with the Digital Product team. Serve as a backup content writer to assist with partner initiatives, feature rollouts and other priority projects during peak periods. Develop consistent content aligned with our design system / style guide, in collaboration with Learning Solutions and Digital Product teams, to support future CMS migration Media and Communications Support Support media and communications efforts in alignment with Corporate Communications and brand standards. Develop story angles, backgrounders, talking points, media briefs, and pitch-ready content in coordination with Communications and Public Affairs. Liaise with Comms to support interview preparation, spokesperson notes, key messages, and responses for media inquiries. Identify proactive opportunities for media storytelling, expert commentary, partnerships, or campaign amplification. Maintain a simple awareness of media moments, evergreen topics, and supporting content assets Strengthen CRC visibility in AI-driven search results by ensuring accurate content across key platforms. Example: blogs, high-authority sites, Wikipedia, Reddit, search-friendly sources). Email marketing ownership Maintain configurations in HubSpot related to content, compliance, and sends Manage the email marketing program end to end in the ESP, including builds, QA, scheduling, and reporting. Work within HubSpot templates, run structured A/B tests on subject lines, content, and CTAs. Collaborate with the UX designer when evaluating or adopting new HubSpot templates Maintain list hygiene and segmentation, manage scheduled releases, and ensure CASL compliance and clear consent capture. Collaborate with external vendors or platforms such as marketing automation or data hygiene providers when needed. Propose engagement concepts and testing strategies to improve opens, clicks, and retention, while reducing unsubscribes. Capture and communicate results to stakeholders with clear recommendations. What we are looking for: 3 to 5 years in communications, public relations, journalism, or marketing, or an equivalent mix of education and experience. Excellent writing and editing for web, email, social, and thought leadership. Able to prepare media support materials in coordination with Communications, including backgrounders, key messages, spokesperson notes, and pitch ready content. Ability to translate strategy into clear key messages, briefs, and campaign copy that stays consistent across channels. Hands-on experience with HubSpot or a comparable marketing automation platform, including email list hygiene, segmentation, basic deliverability QA, and reporting. Working knowledge of SEO, including keyword research and on-page optimization using tools such as SEMrush or similar. Familiarity with CMS publishing, content QA, and common online SaaS tools for collaboration and analytics. Practical experience using AI writing tools to accelerate drafting and editing, with strong judgment for voice, fact-checking, and accessibility. Working knowledge of Canadian Press style and plain-language principles. Strong collaboration skills to gather input, route content through review, and secure approvals within defined governance. Awareness of accessibility and brand standards, and the ability to apply them in day-to-day work. Commitment to the Red Cross Fundamental Principles and organizational values. Knowledge of French. Comfort reviewing or drafting short copy in French is an asset. Background in public safety, health education, or nonprofit environments is an asset. Experience with content SEO optimized for AI search overviews is an asset. Familiarity with evolving CMS platforms and web content accessibility standards is an asset.
