Job Description

As a key member of the IT Team, the Junior Applications Developer will be responsible for supporting application development, website maintenance, integrations, and data reporting using .NET, WordPress, JavaScript, and SQL technologies.
While each member of ECO Canada has individual responsibilities, ECO takes a team-based approach. Everyone is encouraged to take ownership of their ideas and to see them through to completion, collaborating with key influencers as required.
This is a permanent full-time position.
Responsibilities
- Assist with application development by writing, updating, and maintaining clean, well-structured code using .NET technologies (VB.NET, C#, ASP.NET), PHP, or modern JavaScript frameworks such as Next.js.
- Maintain and update WordPress websites by performing regular plugin and version updates, making simple code or layout changes using tools like Elementor and Jet plugins, and helping implement new features.
- Support and troubleshoot the website by resolving basic WordPress, .NET, and Next.js issues, testing fixes, reviewing existing code with guidance from senior team members, and documenting bugs and improvements.
- Work with data by creating and updating reports using basic to intermediate SQL queries and assisting with data updates as needed.
- Support integrations with third-party systems using APIs and web services.
- Provide technical and documentation support by assisting with existing web applications and integrated third-party systems, responding to user issues, and contributing to documentation such as user guides and process flows.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field.
- Basic to intermediate experience with C#.NET, VB.NET, PHP, Python or JavaScript.
- Working Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Familiarity with WordPress, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web technologies.
- Experience with development tools such as Visual Studio or VS Code.
- Basic understanding of APIs and web services.
- Familiarity with Version Control Systems e.g. GitHub or Azure DevOps
Valued Assets (Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with modern web technologies such as Next.js, Vercel, and Firebase
- Exposure to MVC architecture, Microsoft Power Platform, Dynamics 365, and Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines.

This role is based at ECO Canada’s Calgary head office (unless otherwise noted). Following a 3-month probation period, eligible employees may transition to a hybrid schedule with at least 3 days per week in the office.
