DHL Express currently has an opening for a Safety Supervisorin our National Office in Brampton, ON. In this role you will develop, manage and administer existing policies and programs to ensure compliance with HS&E requirements. They will also ensure compliance with existing injury and accident prevention programs, develops cultural change initiatives and programs, monitors compliance, conducts data analysis and recommends preventative actions. The Safety Supervisor also provides support and guidance to leadership on new initiatives, projects, policy and safety processes for various department, area, and business units. The Safety Supervisor would have oversight of all Canadian safety related incidents. The individual would establish, design, implement and sustain effective incident management programs to reduce impacts on injured employees, drive down liability costs, provide consistency, improve lost time injury frequency rate while upholding DHL’s policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure full compliance with all the requirements of Safety Regulations as they apply and actively ensures continual improvement using the established systems and processes.
- Tracks and analyses Canadian incident, injury and accident trends and provides recommendations for improved safety program performance.
- Promotes the DHL Safety First Culture
- Develop comprehensive injury and accidents / drivingmanagement program, including training, system and procedural development and analysis
- Conducts Incident reviews for all claims ensuring high quality record capture and follow-up.
- Point of contact/escalation for sites, HR and others as needed
- Owns the ERTW (Light Duty) program and tracks employees' status
- Critical analysis of both current and historical claims.
- Owns Fitness for Duty Program including tracking and managing employees.
- Analyses loss trends and reports to Head of Safety to determine improvements needed.
- Conducts benchmarking and reviews of best practices in injury and accidents / drivingmanagement across industry.
- Lead industrial athlete specific or industrial ergonomic programs; ex: Fit for Work Fit for Life partnerships

- Must possess strong leadership qualities.
- Seasoned professional, self-starting, analytical and energetic.

- Hold or working towards externally accredited safety certificate is desirable (e.g. CRSP or equivalent)
- DHL or other transportation operations experience would be an asset.
- Competence in multiple software suites including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Must take ownership for all safety related issues and have a “can do” and teamwork style.
- BS/BA in related discipline preferred and/or 5 years’ experience in Ops environment.
- Willingness to travel as necessary
