Salary Range: $92,151 - $115,189 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits)
Hiring Range: $92,151 - $103,670 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits)

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
Overview:
Reporting to the Supervisor Water & Wastewater Treatment & Collection you will provide specialized technical support for the operation, design and implementation of asset and maintenance programs. You will ensure that these programs are developed and administered to comply with all applicable legislation, regulations and supports the Region’s objectives.
What you will do in the role:
- Develop and administer comprehensive preventative maintenance programs and ensure they are followed to increase the life expectancy of equipment, reduce repair costs, and avoid interruption to Wastewater Operations services
- Schedule inspections, monitoring work in collaboration with the Wastewater Operations staff to ensure activities are consistently and concisely documented to eliminate risk to program services
- Contributes technical advice and supports capital projects and continuous
- improvement initiatives.
- In depth knowledge of wastewater treatment and wastewater collection processes.
- Develop and maintain service contracts and standard operating procedures for the effective maintenance and operations of Wastewater Operations’ facilities
- Maintain an inventory of replacement parts for critical systems and components
- Review quotations for new or replacement equipment and related services for validity and inclusion/exclusion in contracts
- Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders contractors, assess vendor performance and maintain performance records to ensure terms of contracts are met
- Provide guidance and technical advice on the implementation/integration of replaced or new systems and collaborate in troubleshooting operational problems to Wastewater Operations and contracted maintenance staff
- Conduct research and analyze specialized systems information in order to prepare technical documentation, reports and statistical analysis, and provide recommendations on trends to support the selection of new equipment and systems
- Schedule and lead site visits with others to review equipment drawings, investigations and failure analysis as required
- Promote energy savings for all facilities by working collaboratively with the Climate Change and Energy and Environmental Management team and take advantage of the incentive programs to increase the efficiency of the buildings operations and cost savings
- Review asset database inventory records of existing equipment and provide updated information for newly installed equipment.
- Support capital projects and planning by providing technical expertise and recommendations
- Ensure operating manuals and as-built drawings are received and are available for all equipment and systems.
- Maintain working knowledge of relevant legislation and code requirements
What the role requires:
- A post secondary degree in environmental or applied science combined with at least five years of direct operations and maintenance experience in the municipal wastewater industry or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
- MECP Wastewater Treatment & Wastewater Collection license preferred
- Knowledge of asset management, maintenance management best practices, procurement policies, contractor performance management policies.
- Knowledge of building systems, mechanical, electrical, chemical, and wastewater facilities including understanding life cycle, treatment and collection processes, required maintenance and key performance indicators
- Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office applications, Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) applications
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written, technical report writing, effective
- presentation skills to liaise with a variety of internal and external individuals at various levels and to represent the Region at meetings and workshops.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assist with the analyses of process events and regulatory compliance related incidents.
- Outstanding customer service skills with attention to detail.
- Great administrative and effective time management skills to organize multiple tasks to ensure schedules, contract deliverables and related commitments are completed as required.
Skills/Abilities:
- Well-developed communication skills, both oral and written to prepare Scopes of Work and technical information for tender documents, contracts and requests for quotations
- Analytical skills to review and analyze technical mechanical and building drawings
- Sound judgment and critical thinking abilities to arrive at recommendations or conclusions.
- Results focused with the ability to develop and execute plans, and assess and communicate levels of risk
- Proficiency with MS Office and Computerized Maintenance Management software

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 230 Advance Blvd, Brampton worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.
It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.
