Position Summary
Join the Communications team at Autism Alliance of Canada’s as a Communications and Social Media Support in an 8-week summer position through the Canada Summer Jobs program. You will play a key role in advancing our mission through impactful, multi-platform communications. Your contributions will help amplify the organization’s advocacy, research, and outreach initiatives while adhering to accessibility and inclusivity standards.

Your administrative support ensures the smooth functioning of working groups and committees, contributing to the overall success of Autism Alliance of Canada’s initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation and Social Media Support:
- Support the creation of high-quality, engaging, and accessible social media content.
- Support the design of graphic assets for various platforms using Canva.
- Support the maintenance and update of social media accounts (Facebook, X, Instagram, Bluesky, LinkedIn).
- Support the development of Autism Alliance of Canada’s newsletters.
Communications Support:
- Assist in maintaining communication guidelines and templates.
- Support the production of marketing and communication materials.
Event Support:
- Assist with communications and marketing efforts for events, including the Canadian Autism Leadership Summit.
Analytics and Reporting:
- Monitor and track social media performance metrics.
- Support the design and monitoring of Google Ads
Administrative Support:
- Provide general administrative assistance to the Communications team.
- Ensure consistency in branding and messaging across all platforms and materials.
Skills Development:
- Develop expertise in creating high-quality, engaging, and accessible social media content, including graphic design using tools like Canva.
- Enhance skills in maintaining communication guidelines, producing marketing materials, and ensuring consistency in branding and messaging.
- Develop transferable skills in communication and collaboration while supporting autism-related initiatives.
Position requirements
- Education: Currently enrolled in a university or college program in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience in content creation, social media management, or communications preferred.
- Familiarity with Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress, and other communication tools is an asset.
- Experience collaborating/supporting with Autistic people, those with neurodevelopmental disabilities, their families, or professionals in autism research or service provision.
- Experience in research, accessibility and inclusion, or political advocacy is highly desirable.
- Languages: Bilingual French and English preferred
- Priority will be given to Autistic applicants.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative thinker with a keen eye for detail and design.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive communication practices is an asset.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Slides, Gmail, Meetings), Mailchimp, Eventbrite, WordPress, Zoom, and Canva. Familiarity with Slack and Trello is an asset.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a proven ability to multitask and pay close attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of the non-profit and disability sectors is an asset.
