About The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Accounting the Intermediate Accountant position will be a key contributor to the LodgeLink Financial Operations team, ensuring areas of accountability are performed accurately and on time. They will be responsible for a variety of accounting and analytical tasks related to month-end close, variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany transactions as well as other assigned tasks.
The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years of progressive accounting experience, a solid understanding of financial accounting principles, and strong Excel Skills. If you're eager to learn and grow with a collaborative and agile online marketplace company, you'll be a great fit!
Responsibilities
- Prepare month-end, year end and quarter end close accounting entries and accruals, working closely with AP and Corporate to ensure completeness.
- Prepare journal entries ensuring proper GL coding and supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end margin analysis and provide variance analysis commentary for SGA spend.
- Prepare intercompany, interdivisional and elimination entries for various intercompany transactions.
- Ensure adherence to all administrative and operational processes, procedures and policies in relation to financial accounting entries and month-end close.
- Regularly offer process improvement ideas, share best practices, and facilitate standardization among divisions.
- Utilize financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for operational enhancements.
- Participate in external audits by preparing requested documentation and explanations.
- Provide backup and support as needed to the team.
- Other ad hoc duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3-4 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a dynamic environment. Experience with process improvement initiatives is highly desirable.
- Post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree in accounting, business administration or similar.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS is required.
- Professional accounting designation is preferred or actively being pursued.
- Intermediate to strong Excel knowledge is required, you should be comfortable using filters, tables, pivots, and reference formulas.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Strong attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment with a desire for continuous improvement.
- Prior experience in the travel industry, including familiarity with ARC/SABRE, is highly desirable.
