Salary Range: $94,455 - $118,069 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits)

Overview:
Reporting to the Supervisor Water & Wastewater Treatment & Collection you will provide specialized technical support for the operation, design and implementation of asset and maintenance programs. You will ensure that these programs are developed and administered to comply with all applicable legislation, regulations and supports the Region’s objectives.
What you will do in the role:
- Regularly monitors the performance of the water and wastewater facilities and the transmission system using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, provides recommendations on process control and alarm set points, and preventative and corrective action.
- Conduct research and analyze specialized systems information in order to prepare technical documentation, reports and statistical analysis, and provide recommendations on trends to support the selection of new equipment and systems
- Supports senior staff with issues/research/innovations/technology/projects related to water and wastewater treatment & distribution in order to prepare technical specifications to support the selection of new equipment and processes. Assists in development , implementation and continuously improves the routine (preventative and predictive) maintenance program including, water treatment and distribution and wastewater collection system assets in South Peel treatment facilities.
- Contributes technical advice and supports capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- In depth knowledge of wastewater treatment, Water Treatment and Transmission processes.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), facility manuals, alarm management programs, automation programs for the effective maintenance and operations of Water and Wastewater Operations’ facilities
- Ensure Facility Manuals, PCN's, SOPs and as-built drawings are maintained and are available for all equipment and systems.
- Regularly monitors the performance of the water and wastewater facilities and the transmission system using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, provides recommendations on process control and alarm set points, and preventative and corrective action.
- Participates in Root Cause Analysis and After-Action reports for any incidents occurring at the facility that require post event investigations that will lead to continual improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the implementation of a long-term state of good repair program for the South Peel water and wastewater treatment facility assets.
- Schedule and lead site visits with others to review equipment drawings, investigations and failure analysis as required
- Use technical expertise to maintain Operations Facility Manuals, Process Control Narratives (PCN) and Alarm Management Program to ensure the effective and efficient operations of the treatment facilities.
- Promote energy savings for all facilities by working collaboratively with the Climate Change and Energy and Environmental Management team and take advantage of the incentive programs to increase the efficiency of the buildings operations and cost savings
- Maintain working knowledge of relevant legislation and code requirements
What the role requires:
- A post secondary degree in environmental or applied science combined with at least five years of direct operations and maintenance experience in the municipal wastewater industry or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
- Knowledge of asset management, maintenance management best practices, procurement policies, contractor performance management policies.
- Knowledge of water & wastewater facility design, operation, and assets including mechanical, electrical, process chemical application equipment, automation, HVAC, and treatment process equipment.
- Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office applications, Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) applications
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written, technical report writing, effective
- presentation skills to liaise with a variety of internal and external individuals at various levels and to represent the Region at meetings and workshops.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assist with the analyses of process events and regulatory compliance related incidents.
- Outstanding customer service skills with attention to detail.
- Great administrative and effective time management skills to organize multiple tasks to ensure schedules, contract deliverables and related commitments are completed as required.
Skills/Abilities:
- Well-developed communication skills, both oral and written to prepare Scopes of Work and technical information for tender documents, contracts and requests for quotations
- Analytical skills to review and analyze technical mechanical and building drawings
- Sound judgment and critical thinking abilities to arrive at recommendations or conclusions.
- Results focused with the ability to develop and execute plans, and assess and communicate levels of risk
- Proficiency with MS Office, Power Bi, SCADA and Computerized Maintenance Management software

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 230 Advance Blvd, Brampton worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.
It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.
