What qualifications are we looking for?
At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals.The successful candidates will have the following;
The successful candidate will be at least 15 years of age
Bronze Cross Certification
Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
Instructor certification (YSI or LSI) considered an asset
National Lifeguard - Pool (NL - Pool) considered an asset
Evidence of a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
Three professional references.
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Duties and Responsibilities include:
Perform and document pre-use checks of all waterslides scheduled for use
Supervise the safe operation of the waterslide and/or dive towers
Tell patrons when they are allowed to use the amenity, after visually confirming the water slide and flume, catch basin, or dive tank, are clear from the previous user
Monitor the general safety and maintenance of the pool deck, change rooms, and associated areas by performing regularly scheduled walk throughs, and report concerns to the appropriate staff member or directly address the issue
Complete light cleaning and maintenance tasks as needed
Work as a cooperative part of the staff and volunteer team
Attend (20) hours of Association in-service training throughout the year
Monitor hot tub capacities as requested
Support with pool rule education and the wrist banding of children within YMCA Calgary policies
Maintain certification within accordance of YMCA Calgary Aquatics policies
