Supervisor, Chronic Disease & Injury Prevention – Research, Policy and Planning
Health Services – Public Health: Chronic Disease & Injury Prevention
Status: 1 Contract Full Time (13 Months)
Salary Range: $103,175.00 – $128,969.00 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits, where applicable)
Hiring Range: $103,175.00 – $116,072.00 per annum

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
Who we are:
Public Health supports people in Peel in living their healthiest possible life and contributing to the community with public health programs that are dynamic, inclusive and equitable. Core public health functions are assessment and surveillance, health promotion and healthy policy development, health protection, disease prevention and emergency management.
In this role you will supervise a team consisting of Analysts, Research and Policy, and Nutritionists.
What you will do in this role:
- Lead your team in planning, developing, implementing, managing and evaluating strategies, policies, programs and research in a manner that adheres to applicable legislation, guidelines and protocols, and that delivers upon Divisional outcomes
- Prepare, administer and monitor the team specific budget
- Promote and implement evidence-informed decision making and effective public health practice
- Provide guidance and expertise in Regional Council relations and processes, and policy analysis
- Participate in various divisional, inter-divisional, and departmental, committees
- Develop and foster a culture of respect, inclusiveness and high performance
- Manage change and support the organization’s vision
- Cultivate customer orientation by investing time and training into your team, inspiring them to be innovative while striving to maintain a high degree of customer and client service excellence.
- Build collaborative working relationships with the divisional and department management team as well as external stakeholders when appropriate
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
What the role requires:
- Completed University Degree in related field
- 5 years of progressive relevant experience
- Combination of education and experience may be considered
- Working knowledge of Provincial standards
- Sound understanding of qualitative and quantitative research
- Broad knowledge of public health issues and environmental determinants of health
- Proven problem solver and ethical decision maker
- Thorough knowledge of applicable legislations, policies, and standards is required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and sustain effective working relationships
Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities to coach and mentor high performing team
- Political awareness,tact and diplomacy
- Polished understanding and demonstrated abilities in program planning, implementation and evaluation
Nice to have:
- Master's Degree in a related field
- Previous Public Health supervisory experience

Work Mode & Job Location:
In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.
It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario.
